Christina and Matt, super cute couple. Christina has this cute way of grabbing Matt's face and squishing it in her hands and laying a giant smackaroo right on him. I thought this llittle token of affection was so cute while shooting their engagements session a few months ago. At the wedding I met her mom and dad, and I now see where she gets it ;)
She is the fittest person I know, in-fact I'm a little embarrassed to be her facebook friend, because she works out all the time and I feel a bit like a schlub with all of the fun size twix bars I have swimming around in my gullet... I like twix better than spin class, I bet. She sure did look fantastic. What a beauty.
Like on a silver platter, we were delivered the most beautiful day of 2009. The weather was perfect and the location, Chapel Dulcinea, was stunning! A quick commute up Mopac in rush hour traffic on Friday (seriously the traffic was insanely traversable, I beat the bride and groom to the reception.) Cocktails, dinner and dancing were enjoyed by all @ the Iron Cactus downtown. Lauren and I had a great time working with you guys and we wish you a wonderful and happy life together, congratulations!

10-15-09 Devon + Alberto Married! /
Married in Salado at a small family Catholic Church and their reception was held at Salado Wine Sellers. Their dance floor was set up outside on the front lawn, so beautiful and charming...romantic.
I spoke a little about them a few days ago. They met while attending West Point. Married while on active duty in Afghanistan separated by miles of desert, with a power of attorney. She secretly bought him a ring and sent it to him while he was away. It's such a lovely story and now the Army cannot separate them again. Since they have to serve they can serve together.
We wish you both the very best, it was quite an honor to work with you.
Thank you for your service.

I am moving through Devon and Alberto's wedding quickly now that I am finally caught up and it's only Tuesday but alas, I suspect it's going to be another 2 or 3 days before I am ready to blog the entire event, I thought I'd pass along this little tid-bit to wet your whistle. I LOVE them so far.
Thanks for looking.

Nancy + John Married /
This is the first couple I have had the pleasure to walk through all of the steps with them. If you've been stalking you know their whole story as I have been posting bits and pieces as I go about who they are and why I just LOVE these guys. I'm glad to finally share the conclusions ot their wedding experience. The wedding was held at Hacienda del Lago click < here>. But the way I LOVE Hacienda the partners who own and mange the place are the most accommodating folks I have ever met they are not only willing but eager to help and make things great every step of the way. Seriously one of the owners actually shielded me from the rain for a quick spat during the ceremony. I love these guys and the place is gorgeous, a real stunner. You'll be seeing alot of my work spotlighting this place in the coming months, if you haven't seen it go. You won't be sorry.
Anyway back to Nancy and John, what a raucous party. Complete with a complete Michael Jackson impersonation and lip-syncing, Awesome!! Nancy was the most mellow bride I have ever had the pleasure of working with, it's raining and 4 people are making plans foe the event and Nancy, cool as a cucumber, appeared to be ignoring the hub-bub. She just sat contented having her make-up applied by Kelly Kitchen from Defining Styles click < here>. A teensy bit wet but gorgeous affair. I congratulate you guys and wish you a wonderful life together.

Kim and Larry were wed at the absolutely stunning Natures Point on the lake. I'm sure I've said it about 4 million times, once more couldn't hurt, Texas has the most beautiful clouds. It has yucky heat and it's scary to fly into Austin in the summer but it is all worth it for those clouds. Unreal! I love Texas clouds. I have lived in and have been to many many places, but I have never seen clouds like these. They were out in spades for Kim and Larry's wedding. They make for a completely unblemished back-drop for the couples vows.
Congratulations to you both.

8-1-09 Leslie + Anthony Wedding II /
been together for 7 years they look they are still in their honeymoon phase. Very refreshing!
I stand by it, that wedding was fantastic, so much fun, so many traditions, such great food and friends. Leslie is a photographer herself so making the photographer choice was difficult for her and her documentary film making husband, Anthony. I was honored just to have made the cut.
Strange but true, in the course of our getting to know each other, Leslie and I found that we attended the same college AND had the same professor and probably crossed paths at his wake last year. RIP Peter.
The wedding was help @ Fischer Hall in Fischer, Texas. It's a giant hardwood open canvas, a fantastic find for the budget conscience and imaginative bride. Located only 1 hour outside of Austin proper. It's worth a gander.
Here are some images of the event and as always you can see more on facebook, so please become a fan she-n-he photography and design.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Be well.

7-27-09 The Reviews are in! /
I’m not usually one to write reviews online, but for She-n-He Photography, I *have* to. Of all the wedding planning details, finding the right photographer concerned me the most. Thinking about wedding photographs brought out my insecurities from junior high - being too pale, too tall, too this, too that. However, my fiancé and I didn’t want to look like we’re on the cover of a romance novel, we wanted to look like us. My husband and I are not super-traditional people, and we didn’t want super-traditional photos. She-n-He’s photos were modern, yet classic. They didn’t look staged, which is what I liked the most. The colors in their photos were so vibrant, perfect for our outdoor wedding. And, we were thrilled when we saw our engagement photos. We LOVED them! Knowing that our photographs would be so good gave us some much needed piece of mind during the busy wedding planning process.
Melanie suggested we look at bridal/wedding magazines to show her ideas on how we wanted our photos to look. I’m so glad she suggested this. Many of the shots were exactly how we had requested (based on the magazine pictures we showed her). She also asked us to list out the wedding party and family members for the group shots post-ceremony and at the reception. We were overwhelmed at all the people who were there to celebrate with us. And photography was the *last* thing on our minds. Melanie made sure to take the pictures we had requested. Unfortunately, a few people had left early (or didn’t come) so we couldn’t get some we wanted. But, the fact that she tried to get them was impressive.
I did not expect to be so anxious on my wedding day. An hour before the ceremony, I was asking everyone around me “are the chairs set out for the musicians? Are the musicians here? Did someone pay them? Does so-and-so have the programs?” It was nuts. In hindsight, I was not worrying about the photography at all. And that was worth every penny. When we put things in perspective, if the music or food is mediocre, no one will remember. But the photos are forever and I cannot say enough good things about She-n-He Photography. Thank you so much Melanie and Steve, we will enjoy our wedding photos for a long time!

The Powells were married at the end of 2008 but were unable to share it with most of their friends and family. Thir first wedding was quite last minute, save a trip back to Toi home in Isreal, it's quite an interesting story but I'm sure you're more interested in the pictures.
Toi and Richard were two of the most lovely people I've ever met, they were very appreciative and complimentary, they made us feel like family while we were there. They had a large collection of nieces and nephews, they were SO stinkin cute. We couldn't stay away from them. I hope they marry again next year and we're invited again ;)
All the best to you 2, I saved the bum picture for your own personal collection ;)
Also, as always you can see more images from their wedding on our facebook page at she-n-he photography and design.
Thanks for looking. See you soon.

This was an exciting event for us. We were asked to shoot the wedding of a former advertising colleague, turned good friend. She has an eye for photography and has been "in the business" for several years. She has a sharp attention for detail and knows exactly what she wants, down to the "film" look and feel of yester year. She wanted for her black + white images to look like they were shot on Kodak T-Max 3200 for the grain, I added a little Tri-X 400 to the mix, to give it that sweet light grey half tone to make the black + white subtle and beautiful. The ceremony was held at nearly dust as were all of the formal portraits, so the ambient light is a wee bit on the bluish side so I pulled those pack around to a warmer tone, my favorite, with some yellows and contrast. Reminiscent of Kodak Portra 400VC. I think the results are outstanding. I'm really excited to show them off and most excited to unveil them to my beautiful bride. Thank you, Sheryl for trusting us with your vision.
