A little love from Off Beat Bride this morning.
A skyped elopement was shot and broadcast from The Inn at Wild Rose Hall.
Meejin and Jay's perfect-but-not-fussy wedding at Barr Mansion. It was stunning and also comfortable, low key. During their first look, Meejin's grandpa was walking out of the restroom and made it into some of their first look shots. Meejin was hysterical. I love that! Let your day be your day! It was one of the loveliest weddings I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. Single stem flowers in several different vases of varying colors and sizes from Stems floral, the groomsman in mixed-matched vintage snap button shirts with suspenders, table assignments painted on panes of window glass, and Meejin hand-painted their cake topper. Wow!
You might remember them from their animal-loving engagement session at the Austin Zoo.

Delicious! Margaret and Edward what a lovely match, it was such an honor to capture their wedding's beautiful memories at Barr Mansion. Their wedding was held at the brunch hour on a Sunday morning in April. It was amazing. Congratulations to you both and your families, I look forward to photographing your future milestones. All the best.
"I love the pictures, everyone looks so happy and warm. Thanks for everything." Margaret B.
Venue, cake, and day-of coordination:
Kelly and Jeffrey met while she was tending bar in Washington DC and attending school. She vowed she would not date a customer, but slipped him her number on a CC receipt and the rest is history. They currently live in the Bay area. They chose to have a wedding in Austin, Tx because she has family here.
It was important to them to leave a small carbon footprint so she used all locally-sourced vendors. Including hand-picking wild flowers from a Arnosky Wildflower Farm. Their entire vegan menu and cupcakes came from Green Island Catering. They also wanted to work with local woman-owned businesses The Inn at Wild Rose Hall and She-N-He among them.

Anna -N- Rohan's wedding at Thurman Mansion, flowers are from Wow Factor Design. Anna wanted to have a destination wedding because the sheer number of folks who would come to a local wedding would have left them penny-less. They chose Austin and Rohan chose BBQ, good man ;)

Kathleen -N- Nick how I will miss thee. Off to Virginia, I think. Nick just got out of school at Westpoint, Kathleen lives in New York City to be close. They both packed their things, had a wedding, went on a honeymoon, and now they are moving to Virginia.
We got to go to New York to shoot their engagement session. It was a part of their lives that most of their friends and family didn't get to see. They decorated all of Vintage Villas with their engagement pictures. FUN!

Megan has been besties with one of our December brides since they were babies. She caught wind of Audrey's engagement session on facebook. Flash forward, Tim proposes to Miss DuBois in May and now it's Megan's turn for a portrait session. She chose a fishing themed engagement session. We had such a fun time traipsing through the low water rising in a small low key park in Kyle Texas. It was gorgeous, I just love when our couples are married to an idea it makes things so wonderful and inspiring to photograph. Congratulations guys!
We love you Melanie! You are the bee's knees in our book : ] ---Megan

I recently had someone ask me why we didn't do any sneak peeks! Well, I'll tell you, I get so excited about the weddings I photograph, I find it almost impostible to narrow down to a few images the entire feeling of a whole wedding. And this, with only 5 participants was no exception. Amanda and Jason are so lovely they just wanted to have this special moment all to themselves. It was beautiful, barely any technical difficulties as they Skyped their elopement to a completely surprised room full of relatives in WI. There is no telling at this time as they make their way back to WI what their wrath will be. But on Sunday at The Wild Rose Inn in Austin, Tx, there was nothing but romance in the air.
I'm so happy for your guys. Congratulations!

I met Christy and Greg in very unlikely place, they had never seen my work before but fell in love and trusted me on the spot. They went to my website, met a week later and the deal was done. We had a blast! I'm glad we found each other.
Thanks, these are awesome!!! --Christy Reddish

Keri was a doll. Everywhere I went, all of the wait staff and other vendors just kept going on about how unbelievably sweet Keri was. Yeah she was. She was charming and completely adorable. Love her! Justin was albeit a little shy ;) We had such a nice day at The Vinyards of Florence, the weather was perfect. Shawna was a dream to work with, thanks so much for all of your help. We also had the pleasure of working with Petal Pushers once more. Wow, great work! Their work is always tight and romantic, I love it. Steve from Southern Fine Dining, yum, the food was delicious! Keri and Justin are leaving today to go to the Dominican Republic. jealous.
Happy Honeymooning!

Tracy likes purple...alot. She even sewed a bit purple tool into you dress' under carriage. The is one of the happiest people I've met and certainly THE kissiest. That is the kissiest family I have ever met and I am pretty kissy. There is SO much love floating out there in that family, it's not hard to grab some bits here and there. I'm glad I know you. Thanks for having us.
Have an exceedingly happy life together!

Photo booths are popular, fun and a great tool when it comes to photographing all of your guests in a relaxed environment. You're guests get to choose when they're ready to be photographed and ham it up as much as they want! You can add props or furniture to equation the bounds are limitless.
In the case of Amanda and Corey's photobooth at Vintage Villas, they added yellow and grey props to bring home the color and theme of their wedding. They added yellow pictures frames, mustaches, and umbrellas. They also chose a white paper background so that anything more elaborate would not compete with their design aesthetic.
Duchman Family Winery (formerly Mandola Estates Winery) with Carly and Chad's photobooth in July 2010.
They did not choose a backdrop so we provided a piece of material that had to be steamed forever before the booth opened during reception, and a great deal of retouching got rid of the rest of those wrinkles, that backdrop was promptly burned ;)
A booth also help gets photographs of people who might not make it to the dance floor or any other action in the night, it's a great way to not miss people at your wedding.
We will be photographing a booth coming in a couple weeks at Barr Mansion. The couple would like to have photographs of every single guest and family. So they are handing out business card sized prompts for their guests to find "the photobooth" Which will be marked but it's not a traditional booth. Our photographer for that portrait session is super excited about the prospect. I'll admit, I'm a little jealous...
This booth was constructed for Rackspace Austin for there company party during the tech week of SXSW. Their party was held at Kung Fu Saloon in Austin. You can see in the images that there are Space Invader characters bricked into the wall where we planned to stage the booth, using the space as out backdrop. So we chose to have props. I am not much of a builder so I tasked the super talented Jennifer Ng to do the props for the booth. She knocked it out of the park with all of her props with gaming references.
This booth was constructed for Leap's benefit party at Seaholm Power Plant. I thought a backdrop would be terrible in such an amazing place so we lit the wall of the building as close a we could get to it. and it looks outstanding.
This booth was also for Leap , this time at Speakeasy downtown Austin. This booth was wonderful because the best place for us was a dark corner with a circle booth and a bank of windows with a street lights shining through. I used an extra long exposure to pick up the architecture of those lights. The guests were decked out in the flapper best and the night was a raging success. What a great time we all had!

Shweta and Vishal They were introduced by their families. Their union is a modern arranged marriage. Not really betrothed but were introduced with the hope that they would fall in love and one day wed. Schweta told her mother that she would never marry Vishal, because he had the same name as her brother and how could she? She met Vishal and they laughed and had such a wonderful time together that she decided, it might not be such a bad thing. Vishal recently moved to Austin from Houston and Schweta is finishing up a job and planning a traditional three day Indian Wedding in San Francisco for June. Then they will be reunited in Austin. Welcome to the Lone Star State!
I really love the photos! They turned out great!

Sunday morning I was out photographing Lauren and Matt. We got started at UT campus at dawn on the Sunday the end of SXSW, it was quiet and beautiful. Then we popped by the "Greetings from Austin" postcard wall. We finished up our session and we were lured by the frantic waiving hands and battle cry "Happy National Macaron Day!" La Patisserie was celebrating in style with 5 new flavors, I can't remember them all but the toasted almond was our all time favorite. I was getting Macarons confused with Macaroons.
French Macarons are a delightful little cookie sandwich cookie made from egg whites, almond powder and food coloring, and they're filled with buttercream or jam. They're tasty and they have spectacular texture.
They can be made into any color to match any wedding color combo. You can use them as favors or they can stack them into a pyramid to make a cake like structure.
Be the first of your friends to show off this new trendy, tasty confection at your wedding.
Enjoy.
