Amanda and Jason met on an online dating service. Perfect match. They love the same things, they laugh at each other's jokes. They are so fun. To say that Amanda is obsessed with owls would be a gross understatement. When Jason proposed to Amanda he rented and wore a gigantic owl costume and she only knew it was him cause she spotted his shoes underneath. She said yes and the date was set for July 3. Then somewhere in the mix they decided to instead elope. They found a location, The Inn at Wild Rose Hall in Austin, Tx from Offbeat Bride. Austin was not a place that either had ever been. They picked it out of the clear blue sky from only having seen the pictures on Offbeat Bride. They invited all of their guests to an engagement party on May 15 in WI. Jason even took a call from one of their guests and said "Yeah, we're right around the corner."
They and their 2 guests, myself and their officiant turned off our cell phones and turned on the cameras and the rest is history. It was a elopement. They also had a reception for friends and relatives in WI on their planned July 3rd.
Amanda is a DIYer and she made her bouquet, the boutonnieres, handbags for she and her "bridesmaids," and invitations. She carried it all to Austin in their suitcases. She wore her Grandmother's pearls and a very Marilyn gown. They hired a personal chef to prepare their first meal as husband and wife, The Red Headed Chef. What did they have you ask? Diner food. Omelets, bacon, home-fries, and local artisan bread. And to complete their quadruple threat of great Austin vendors, The Knot Tyer. He really took the time to get to know them and was able to connect with them even before they came for their wedding day. It was one of our favorites.
